Hundreds of Participants Expected
for Thirteenth Annual
Malvern Federal Savings Bank
Berwyn Victory Run on May 17 2014

A community favorite, the 5K
run/walk and Kids Fun Run
raise money for the Berwyn
Veterans Memorial


Paoli, Pa. –    May 7, 2014 – For the thirteenth consecutive year, the Veterans Association of Easttown & Tredyffrin Townships will honor its veterans by sponsoring the Malvern Federal Savings Bank Berwyn Victory Run. This year’s event will be held Saturday, May 17. The 5K run/walk and Kids Fun Run, which benefit the Berwyn Veterans Memorial,annually draw hundreds of participants from Berwyn and throughout the region. Malvern Federal Savings Bank,a community bank headquartered in Paoli, Pa., will once again serve as the title sponsor of the event.

“The Victory Run helps raise awareness of the contributions and bravery of all veterans who served our country, particularly those who have lived and worked in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships,” said Bill Bellew, chairman of the Victory Run. “We are
grateful to Malvern Federal Savings Bank for again serving as the title sponsor of the event. Thanks to their generosity and that of our other sponsors, the Victory Run serves as a fitting tribute to our local heroes.”

participants at the end of the race. We invite our neighbors throughout Chester and Delaware counties to join us for this great community event.”

The race starts and finishes at Berwyn’s Johnson Park, located at Bridge and First avenues. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m., and the Kids Fun Run starts at 9:15 a.m.  The first 250 entrants will receive a custom-designed race t-shirt. Following the race, there will be a post-race party for all participants and volunteers, with free food and drinks. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top male and female participants who place first, second and third overall. These winners will be
recognized at the post-race celebration. Additional awards will be given to the top male and female winners in seven age groups, largest family, winning corporate team and largest neighborhood participation.

The registration cost for the 5K is $20 for mail-in forms and checks postmarked by May 14. Checks should be made payable to
Berwyn Victory Run, P.O. Box 201, Berwyn, Pa. 19312. Race day registration is $25 for the 5K and $5 for the Kids Fun Run.
Families of three or more who pre-register will receive a discounted registration fee of $15 per person. For more information about the Berwyn Veterans Memorial and to pre-register for the race, visit

Dedicated in 2005, the Berwyn Veterans Memorial is a 28-foot-high stainless steel arch that features a 20-foot American flag. The
memorial is located at the SEPTA train station in Berwyn on the Route 30 side of the railroad bridge overpass. Plaques displaying the names of Tredyffrin and Easttown veterans who died in service from the French-Indian War through the Desert
Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan surround the bottom of the arch.
