Malvern Federal Savings Bank Announces Title Sponsorship of 5th Annual Berwyn Victory Run

(Paoli) – April 20, 2006 – Malvern Federal Savings Bank, headquartered in Paoli, Pa., has announced their title sponsorship of the 5th annual run to benefit the Berwyn Veterans Memorial. The Malvern Federal Savings Bank Berwyn Victory Run will be held Saturday, May 20 with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run will benefit the Berwyn Veterans Memorial.

“Malvern Federal Savings Bank has contributed to this race since the first year it was held,” said Bill DeHaven, chairman of the Malvern Federal Savings Bank Berwyn Victory Run committee. “We are very grateful that, for the first time since its inception, the race will have a title sponsor. We truly appreciate Malvern Federal’s continued support for our organization and the community of Berwyn.”

The Berwyn Veterans Memorial is a 28-foot high stainless steel arch that stands at the south end of the pedestrian bridge at the Berwyn Septa train station along Route 30, with a 20-foot American Flag hanging from the arch. Plaques displaying the names of area veterans from the French-Indian War through the Vietnam War surround the bottom of the arch. The Memorial was dedicated in September of 2005; however, there are two other construction activities planned in order to complete the surrounding memorial area. The Malvern Federal Savings Bank Berwyn Victory Run will help support these efforts.

“The Berwyn Veterans Memorial is a wonderful way to pay public tribute to the heroic soldiers of the area,” said Ronald Anderson, president and CEO of Malvern Federal Savings Bank. “The Berwyn Victory Run provides a unique opportunity for the residents of Berwyn and surrounding towns to get involved and support a worthy cause. We are excited about sponsoring this year’s event.”

The run begins at 8:30 a.m. at Berwyn’s Johnson Park. There will be awards given in several categories, and the first 250 registrants will receive a free custom designed t-shirt. Participants that sign-up by May 10 will receive a discounted registration fee.
